Ellensburg Police Department Updates CPL Process, Traffic Requests

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

The Ellensburg Police Department (EPD) implemented new procedures for concealed pistol license (CPL) applications and traffic safety requests as of September 11, 2026.

CPL applications and renewals will now require appointments only. Residents must call 509-962-7280 or email to schedule an appointment. Fees include $48 for new applications, $32 for renewals, $42 for late renewals, and $10 for replacements. The department also announced the adoption of the Handle With Care Program in November 2024 to address adverse childhood experiences through school-community partnerships, with expansion planned across Kittitas County.

Traffic safety requests must be submitted via email to EPD for ongoing issues, not one-time violations. Requests will be processed based on resource availability. The department also provided contact information for questions about the Keep Washington Working policy, including Captain Jim Weed's email address.
