WSDOT announced ongoing highway closures and traffic shifts for maintenance work across multiple routes in Ellensburg and surrounding areas. Southbound I-405 will close up to two lanes nightly from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. through July 31 between mileposts 18.11 and 16.45. State Route 203 will close one lane nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday mornings through July 31 between mileposts 12.53 and 23.20.
State Route 96 will alternate traffic with flaggers daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. through July 31 between mileposts 4 and 6. SR 211 will have a single-day closure from 6:17 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 30 between mileposts 2 and 7. Other closures include US 2, which will alternate traffic nightly from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. through July 31 between mileposts 45 and 48.
Residents should plan for delays during these closures, with WSDOT advising drivers to allow extra travel time. The agency states that flaggers and pilot cars will direct traffic through affected areas. Closures are scheduled to end on July 31, 2026, unless extended by WSDOT.
