Kittitas County commissioners unanimously approved an emergency six-month ban on data center proposals Monday.
The ban aims to address community concerns about infrastructure strain and environmental impacts, according to county documents. The decision follows public input during a meeting where residents expressed worries about water usage and power demands.
The ban expires on February 12, 2027, and will allow time for the county to develop a comprehensive data center policy. County staff will draft the policy for review before the next commission meeting.
