Multiple Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) road projects with closures and slowdowns began or continued this week in central Washington, affecting travel to and from Ellensburg.
WSDOT announced several projects: a guardrail repair with alternating traffic at milepost 168 east of Rimrock, paving on US 2 from milepost 118 to 119 on Sept. 9, and repaving on Chumstick Highway from Sept. 8 to 25. The White Pass project will end on Sept. 5, and the US 2 guardrail replacement near Leavenworth will end on Sept. 4.
Residents should expect delays during work hours. The Chumstick Highway project will have single-lane closures and pilot cars, while the US 2 paving project will have a right-lane closure. The guardrail repair near Rimrock will have alternating flagged traffic, and the US 2 project near Leavenworth will have automatic flaggers.
